Wild flowers and plants are as abundant in the Yorkshire Dales as they are varied

Flora
Wild flowers and plants are as abundant in the Yorkshire Dales as they are varied. Their habitats range from woodland and grassland to harsh, rocky ground such as limestone pavement, cliffs and scree. Plant life can also be found in marshes, bogs and in aquatic habitats.

Plants which can be seen in the Yorkshire Dales include:
- juniper and prickly sedge on limestone scree slopes
- bogbean and cuckooflower in marshy areas
- bird's-foot-trefoil and devil's-bit scabious in grasslands such as traditional meadows and pastures in the dale bottoms
- lady's-slipper orchid and giant bellflower in woodlands
and
- bloody crane's-bill and hart’s-tongue fern on limestone pavements.

For further information on these and many more species, visit the Nature in the Dales section of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority's website.
